✨ Bible Character Series #1: The Triune God - God the Son
When beginning a series on biblical characters, there is only one place to start — with Jesus Christ. He is not just the central figure of Christianity, but the fulfillment of every promise God has made throughout Scripture. From Genesis to Revelation, Jesus is the heartbeat of the Bible, the Savior of the world, and the hope of all humanity.
🔎 1. The Promised Messiah – Old Testament Prophecies
The story of Jesus doesn’t begin in the Gospels — it begins in Genesis. Immediately after the fall, God promised a Savior: “The seed of the woman will crush the serpent’s head” (Genesis 3:15).
Throughout the Old Testament, prophets foretold His coming:
- Isaiah spoke of a virgin birth and a suffering servant (Isaiah 7:14; 53:5–6)
- Micah declared He would be born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2)
- Daniel saw a Son of Man receiving eternal dominion (Daniel 7:13–14)
Every prophecy pointed forward to the Messiah — Jesus.
🌟 2. The Birth of Jesus – God With Us
In the fullness of time, God’s promise became flesh. Jesus, conceived by the Holy Spirit, was born to the virgin Mary in Bethlehem — not in a palace, but in a manger. > “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” (John 1:14)
His humble birth revealed God’s heart — to dwell with the lowly, to bring light into darkness, and to fulfill His covenant of love.
👣 3. The Ministry of Jesus – Revealing the Kingdom
At around age thirty, Jesus began His public ministry. He was baptized, overcame temptation, and began to proclaim: “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news” (Mark 1:15).
He healed the sick, forgave sinners, cast out demons, and welcomed the outcast. Through His teaching, He revealed the character of God — full of grace and truth.
Jesus didn’t just speak truth. He was the truth. > “I am the way and the truth and the life.” (John 14:6)
✝️ 4. The Death of Jesus – The Sacrifice for Sin
Though sinless, Jesus willingly went to the cross. He was betrayed, condemned, beaten, and crucified. Yet through His suffering, He bore the full weight of humanity’s sin.
As Isaiah had prophesied:
“He was pierced for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities... and by His wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5)
Jesus’ death was not defeat — it was the greatest act of love and justice. Through His blood, we are forgiven and reconciled to God.
🌅 5. The Resurrection – Victory Over Death
Three days later, the tomb was empty. Jesus rose again, just as He had promised. He appeared to His disciples and many others, proving that He had conquered sin and death.
His resurrection is the foundation of our hope. > “If Christ has not been raised, our faith is in vain” (1 Corinthians 15:17)
Because He lives, we too have the promise of new life — now and forever.
☁️ 6. The Ascension – Exalted at the Right Hand
After appearing to many for forty days, Jesus ascended into heaven before the eyes of His followers (Acts 1:9). He now reigns at the right hand of God, interceding for us as our High Priest and Advocate.
Though physically absent, His Spirit is with us, guiding, teaching, and empowering His people.
🔔 7. The Return of Jesus – The Coming King
Jesus promised He would come again — not as a suffering servant, but as a conquering King. He will return to judge the living and the dead, to restore all things, and to dwell with His people forever.
“This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way.” (Acts 1:11)
Until that day, we live in hope and in mission — proclaiming the good news of the risen King.
💬 Who Is Jesus to Me?
To me, Jesus is not just a figure of history. He is alive. He is the Savior who rescued me from sin, the Shepherd who leads me daily, and the Friend who never leaves me.
When I am weak, He is my strength. When I fail, He offers grace. When I am anxious, He gives peace. He is the reason I live, the one I worship, and the hope I cling to.
📖 The Journey Continues
The story of Jesus changes everything. As we continue this blog series on biblical characters, we will look at those who foreshadowed, followed, and pointed to Him — starting with Abraham, the father of faith.
